A weekend at Neptune Apartments, Cheltenham

2 December 2022

Gloucestershire history lover and author of "Taking the Waters" (a historical fiction set in Regency Cheltenham), Lesley Sainty, was a recent guest at Neptune Apartments and shares her experience here.

If you’re looking to base yourself in the heart of Regency Cheltenham, the Neptune Apartments are an ideal choice.

These beautiful luxury apartments on the historic promenade are perfect for a short break or longer stays offering spacious rooms with both traditional and quirky design features.

During my weekend break, I stayed in the first floor Tetbury apartment: a beautiful, spacious two-room apartment which spans both the front and back of the building. Its large windows overlooking the Promenade made it the perfect place to relax. From the art on the walls and ornaments to the unusual lighting and richly coloured furniture, everything is so inspiringly designed. I enjoyed sitting in the spacious lounge area which looks out onto the Promenade, reading my book and writing or just simply watching the world go by.

The bedroom offered a peaceful sanctuary with sound insulation and calming colours, I enjoyed a great sleep in the comfy luxury bed. I had some friends over on the Saturday evening for drinks and nibbles before we went out in Cheltenham. It was perfect!

The kitchen area includes a breakfast bar, dishwasher, hob and oven, giving you everything you need to relax and cook. It’s ideal if you’re visiting the town for one of the festivals as you can eat out but also bring food back and prepare. You still feel like you are part of the action as you’re right in the middle of town.

On the Sunday, I strolled along the Promenade and enjoyed browsing in the shops which were quieter than on Saturday. I walked up to Montpellier and The Suffolk’s, and despite living in Cheltenham, it was lovely to feel like I could stroll back to a peaceful apartment nearby. Cheltenham is a beautiful town to explore, with hidden history, spacious parks and quirky shops.

I would highly recommend the Neptune Apartments in Cheltenham. I would suggest arriving by public transport as parking nearby doesn’t come cheap (although Neptune Apartments does have a limited number of parking permits for nearby available on a first come first served basis - you need to request this upon booking). I think the apartments are ideal for those visiting to be part of the action, so especially suited to people coming to the town’s many festivals. In terms of longer stays, the apartments feel like a home from home with everything you would need for relaxing mornings and chilled evenings. All 12 apartments come equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine, wine glasses, fridges and cooking equipment.

Will I stay again? Definitely, and next time I’ll invite some friends and perhaps book more than one of the apartments!
